A favorite past time of
Oakland Yard Athletics co-owner Philip Douse,
this camp will be for the little campers only.
Children will build and paint at least two houses
and/or feeders by week's end. They'll take home
all projects and a bird watching book. Those speedy
builders will be more than welcome to start a
third project and complete it at home once camp
concludes. For their first project, campers will
have an opportunity to choose from several different
houses and feeder designs while taking into consideration
what models will best fit into their neighborhood.
These models will be assembled using pre-cut pieces.
As a second project, children will have to develop
their own blueprint (with assistance from the
staff), then construct their design using natural
materials found in Mother Natures' forest provided
to them by our staff.
Each week's best design will be featured on our
web site. At the conclusion of the camp season,
all 'best design' winners will compete on our
web site for 'House and Feeder Contractors' of
the Year Award. This award will be determined
by web votes cast the week of August 16 only.
Winners will receive a $50 United States Savings
bond.
Camp is open to 12 campers per week and is open
to boys and girls ages 6 to 10.

Coach Jay helps the kids put their bird house
feeders together. Campers spent the week observing
different species of birds.
