DIRECTIONS

Three student anxiously await take off!

Children interested in flying into the wild blue yonder should definitely participate in this camp! Chip Rasher, Pontiac Flight Service’s head guy will be overseeing this exciting camp. Boys and girls, ages 10 to 17 are eligible for this 4-day program. Groups of three, with instructor, will share time in their own Cessna 172 throughout the week.

Monday – CLASSROOOM. Campers will spend time learning the fundamentals of flight, how to preflight an aircraft, the basics of aircraft instruments and Aircraft OPS. Classroom time 2.5 hours.

Tuesday – Campers will spend their time in the air in concentrating on preflight, turns, climbs, and descents, flight altitude and basic maneuvers. Flight time 2.0 hours.

Wednesday – Preflight, maneuvers, pattern work and take offs and landings will be the days topics. Flight time 2.0 hours.

Thursday – The week will culminate in a cross-country trip to Kalamazoo Airport where campers will have lunch and a chance to tour the air museum. Flight time 3.0 hours.

Campers will receive a flight logbook in which they will be able to log their stick time. This will then be signed by their instructor and can later be applied as flight credit toward their private pilot’s license. The FAA requires 40 hours of flight time with an instructor for licensing. Friday will be reserved as a make-up day in case of inclement weather. Cost includes all flying, museum entrance fee, and lunch on Thursday, and flight logbook.
