New this summer at Oakland
Yard will be our very own low ropes course, specifically
designed for children. Built among the trees on
our property, this challenging series of ropes,
ladders, platforms, and zip lines were put together
to enhance our young camper's confidence in group
settings. With designs taken from the British
Army and the Colorado Outward Bound program, we
are confident this camp will be a lasting experience
for all those that take the Adventure Ropes Course
challenge.
Campers will be divided into two teams of six
on day one and actively participate in team building
exercises to build trust using proven methods
practiced by the British Army since World War
I. By day two, both teams will take to the trees,
gradually working their way up to more challenging
two and three person moves in the ropes course.
With no child ever being over 8' off the ground
and alway harnessed in, this camp will inspire
and progressively confront all campers with obstacles
they would not come across in your average summer
vacation. Children looking to overcome a fear
of heights will greatly benefit from this camp.
Camp is limited to 12 campers per week and is
open to boys and girls ages 7 to 12.
The new ropes course welcomed its first campers
on July 5th.
