Sewing Camp Registration Information

Are your children creative? Do they express an interest in working with their hands? Not only will our sewing camp enhance these attributes in your child but will also allow your child to walk away with a skill that will last a lifetime. Geared toward the inexperienced or novice sewer, this camp will explore the basics of sewing through a variety of projects. From the basic parts of a sewing machine, reading a pattern and cutting it out, to putting in a zipper and buttonhole, your child will be acquainted with the skills they need to continue sewing on their own after camp is over. Your child will complete at least two projects through the course of the week that will be brought home at the conclusion of camp.

Projects may include a hanging wall organizer, a wallet, autograph pillow or tote bag. We’ll also take a trip to a local fabric store to purchase fabric for one of their projects. This trip will teach campers how to find a pattern and select appropriate fabric for these patterns. Each student will be given a sewing kit that includes scissors, pins, needles and a measuring tape as well as an instructional book geared toward the child seamstress to take home with them at the conclusion of camp. All other necessities, iron and ironing board, sewing machine, fabric and other such things will be supplied by Oakland Yard. This camp is open to boys and girls, 8 to 12 years of age.

Camp size limited to 12 campers.

A minimum of 9 campers is required for this camp to run.

Campers work on a variety of projects
throughout the week, but getting the hang
of the sewing machine is a very
important step in the process.
