Oakland Yard Athletics has teamed up with Cedar
Crest Academy in Clarkston to bring a new line-up
of educationally based camps to the young people
of Oakland County and the camp families of Oakland
Yard.
This partnership will enable Oakland Yard Athletics
Summer Adventure Camps to offer our camp familes
an array of educational, artistic, and musical
activities.
All Cedar Crest Programs run from 9:00am to 11:30am
Monday through Friday. Parents should plan on
have campers picked up no later than 12:00pm.
Transportation is available from Oakland Yard
to Cedar Crest on a first come, first serve basis
and a nominal fee. This service is only available
for campers who will be participating in before
and after care programs at Oakland Yard.
Cedar
Crest Misson Statement |
Cedar Crest's mission is
to individualize the core curriculum in order
to meet the pace and learning style of each student.
This philosophy will be
carried over into the camp setting. Allowing each
camper to have individual attention and instruction.
In 1983, Jon and Bette
Moen purchased a fertile field of 14 acres, originally
a Christmas tree farm, at 8970 Dixie Hwy in Clarkston.
On the property was a dentist's home and office,
presently the schools Administration Building.
The new school needed a name and obvious choice
for the Moen's was Cedar Crest Academy. The first
year of operation had 20 students and in kindergarten
through grade 5. They were nurtured by 3 staff
members.
20 years later, Cedar Crest now has 169 students
nurtured by 27 staff members. The one building
school has grown into 9 classrooms, an early childhood
center, an activity rooom and a new gymnasium.
