Has your child
been with us since they were 5? Are they getting
to that age where they've out grown all of our
camps? Do they
talk about being a Summer Camp Counselor once
they are old enough?
Teens that are 14 years old by June 1st, 2008
can apply and interview for a summer Counselor-In-Training
(CIT) position. They can
apply and will need to interview with our CIT
and Camp Directors, just like all potential employees
do. If hired, there is a minimum
commitment of four weeks over the course of the
summer. At the end of their four weeks they will
have a comprehensive evaluation
with the CIT and Camp Directors. This evaluation
will determine whether or not the CIT will be
offered a paid position the following
summer. (We hire paid counselors at 16 years of
age).
We will provide the CIT with an opportunity to
learn from some of the best camp counselors in
the business. Most of Oakland
Yard's counselors are full-time teachers during
the school year or full-time college students
at some of the best Midwest universities.
All CIT's will be under the guidance and supervision
of our CIT Director, Stephanie Jones, whose sole
responsibility will be to guide
and mentor the CIT's throughout the summer.
CIT's will need to be on campus at 8:30am each
day for a daily meeting and to assist in the getting
ready of each camp. Camp
assignments will be given on Monday morning. CIT's
will be with the same camp all week.
CIT's will be given a weeks worth of camp staff
shirts.
Please mail the application to
Oakland Yard Athletics, Attention: CIT Director.
After receipt of the application, candidates will
be contacted and an interview will
be scheduled.
