Cast plaster models, and discover paleontology while digging up actual
bones! Campers will familiarize themselves with dinosaurs and
archeological techniques through a variety of activities. Campers will
draw and identify several dinosaurs as well as create a clay model of
their favorite dinosaur.

Small bones will be unearthed from a synthetic stone block and then
assembled into a small scale model. A Plaster-of-Paris cast of either
their hand or foot will be made the day before the dig to take home.
The week will culminate with Young Indiana Jones’ working on their own
dig site plot.

On Tuesday, the young archeologists and staff will venture to
Cranbrook Science Museum to experience the greatness of the
dinosaur in person. Campers will be transported by Oakland Yard staff
to and from the museum and return in time for their 11:30 lunch time.
Cost of camp includes museum fees.

On Friday, archeologists will be given a plot, and then embark on the
unearthing of replica bones under supervision. As they progress with
brushes and small shovels, our young diggers will discover life size t-
rex teeth, Velociraptor claws, and a reduced scale T-rex skull replica

Lunch will be served daily at 11:30am for all participants in
this camp.

This camp is open to
boys and girls, ages 5 to 7.

What's What at OYA
Oakland Yard Summer Camps is continuing our passport program to ensure that we are a leader in safety by providing a worry free place for parents to leave their children. To accomplish this, we will continue to issue camper passports to all campers. In addition to our passport security measure, we will ask that you park your car and come into our gated-area each day to drop off and pick up your child.

How It Works: Campers will use their passport on a daily basis to check in with their counselors. Counselors will use this passport and the information contained therein as a quick reference for attendance and emeregency information.
Upon receipt of your child's passport, we request that you fill in the required information with a pencil.
Campers passports will be returned to each them at the end of the day when their parent checks them out.

There is a one time passport fee of $10 per child. This passport will never expire, it just needs to be updated with your childs current photo each year.

Parents who want to pre-purchase ice cream and candy credits for campers can do so for any amount they desire.

Why do this? It allows kids to have treat without carrying around cash. Our counselors will keep the passports in a safe place during the day then at noon and a predetermined time during lunch club and working parent the campers can redeem their credits for candy or ice cream.

All ice cream and candy costs $1
Oakland Yard is once again offering transportation to and from our off-site camps for a nominal fee.

To take advantage of transportation, kids need to be enrolled in either the Breakfast Club or Lunch Club.

As overnight campers, we loved getting care packages from mom and dad. Our day campers can experience the same thrill with our OYA Mail Call. We have our own offical mailbox for you to deposit letters and care packages into when you drop them off in the morning.

We will have Mail Call on Wednesday during Lunch Club, if your child is not in Lunch Club we will deliver the package on Thursday morning.
In the event of rain, Oaklad Yard campers will participate in an indoor field day inside the dome. Campers may be asked to participate in activities othere than the camp they signed up for.

Camps that generally go about their business on rain days: Sports & Games, Arts & Crafts, Soccer, Hip-Hop and Cheerleading.

There will be no make-up days offered if a rain day should occure, except where noted.
