Who's Line Is It Anyway?
X-Games Roller Blade

On Tuesday and Thursday, this camp meets at Kalloway's Restaurant, 595 N. Lapeer Road (north of The Palace).

We’ve all seen hot air balloons in the air throughout the summer, but who’s flying these crafts? How do they navigate the skies? What’s the principle of flight that’s really keeping them aloft? If you crossed a large, hot black parking lot should you be concerned with the thermals it produces? Can you steer these crafts or are you just at the mercy of the prevailing winds? Get in this very unique camp and let's find out!Monday we’re going to bring one of these six passenger giants into our dome, inflate it and then really see how the thing is put together. How much can it really lift? A golf cart? 10 kids? Have any of your friends ever been inside a balloon? Walked inside of a semi-inflated balloon? All of this and it’s only Monday! Tuesday we’re flying! That’s right, all of you that enroll in this camp will start earning your captains wings at 7:00am while the sun is just coming up.

This camp is not “let’s go for a ride” camp, no way! It’s getting down and dirty; learn how to set it up, why it stays aloft, how and where to land. Both Tuesday and Thursday are in the air. Each of the six campers will have his/her chance to pilot these 7 story giants through the air of Northern Oakland County. Wednesday is more detailed instruction on how to care for, refuel, etc. these balloons. Don’t worry about inclement weather, all cancellations will be made up either on Friday or at a later date. Ages 10 and up. Space is limited to 12.Dennis Colin of Sky Adventures (since 1975) will be teaching future pilots the ups and downs of ballooning. Dennis has earned over 2800 hours of actual in air flight time. Fliers will depart from Kalloway’s Restaurant, north of The Palace at 595 N. Lapeer Road (weather permitting). (Parent note: Flight days meet at Kalloway’s. Flyers are responsible for their own transportation to and from Kalloway’s.)

What's What at OYA
Oakland Yard Summer Camps is continuing our passport program to ensure that we are a leader in safety by providing a worry free place for parents to leave their children. To accomplish this, we will continue to issue camper passports to all campers. In addition to our passport security measure, we will ask that you park your car and come into our gated-area each day to drop off and pick up your child.

How It Works: Campers will use their passport on a daily basis to check in with their counselors. Counselors will use this passport and the information contained therein as a quick reference for attendance and emeregency information.
Upon receipt of your child's passport, we request that you fill in the required information with a pencil.
Campers passports will be returned to each them at the end of the day when their parent checks them out.

There is a one time passport fee of $10 per child. This passport will never expire, it just needs to be updated with your childs current photo each year.

Parents who want to pre-purchase ice cream and candy credits for campers can do so for any amount they desire.

Why do this? It allows kids to have treat without carrying around cash. Our counselors will keep the passports in a safe place during the day then at noon and a predetermined time during lunch club and working parent the campers can redeem their credits for candy or ice cream.

All ice cream and candy costs $1
Oakland Yard is once again offering transportation to and from our off-site camps for a nominal fee.

To take advantage of transportation, kids need to be enrolled in either the Breakfast Club or Lunch Club.

As overnight campers, we loved getting care packages from mom and dad. Our day campers can experience the same thrill with our OYA Mail Call. We have our own offical mailbox for you to deposit letters and care packages into when you drop them off in the morning.

We will have Mail Call on Wednesday during Lunch Club, if your child is not in Lunch Club we will deliver the package on Thursday morning.
In the event of rain, Oaklad Yard campers will participate in an indoor field day inside the dome. Campers may be asked to participate in activities othere than the camp they signed up for.

Camps that generally go about their business on rain days: Sports & Games, Arts & Crafts, Soccer, Hip-Hop and Cheerleading.

There will be no make-up days offered if a rain day should occure, except where noted.
