This weeklong camp will provide your child with the knowledge and skills needed to be a great baby-sitter. At the beginning of the week, campers will learn the basics of baby-sitting: heating bottles, changing diapers, and properly holding a child. They will also learn how to handle various situations that may arise while baby-sitting: message taking, emergency situations, and security procedures. Throughout the rest of the week, campers will learn numerous games and activities they can do with children of different ages.
Wednesday campers will spend the day learning about emergency preparation and what to do if a child has a fever, or gets a scrape, deep cut, or bloody nose. They will also see a presentation on the proper way to perform CPR. Before sending these future sitters out into the world, they will have a chance to test their sitting skills.
On Friday, campers will be split into groups and assist in the running of Oakland Yard’s Mom’s & Tot’s Camp, children ages 2-4. Their challenge will be to lead the children in a group game or activity, which our sitters will learn during the week. While leading the activity, Oakland Yard Counselors will be there to guide them should any assistance be required. Camp includes ‘Baby-Sitters Guide Book.’
This camp is open to boys and girls ages 11 to 14. Camp size is limited to 12.

Oakland
Yard Summer Camps is continuing our
passport program to ensure that we
are a leader in safety by providing
a worry free place for parents to
leave their children. To accomplish
this, we will continue to issue camper
passports to all campers. In addition
to our passport security measure,
we will ask that you park your car
and come into our gated-area each
day to drop off and pick up your child. |
|
How
It Works: Campers
will use their passport on a daily
basis to check in with their counselors.
Counselors will use this passport
and the information contained therein
as a quick reference for attendance
and emergency information.
Upon receipt of your child's
passport, we request that you fill
in the required information with
a pencil.
Campers passports will
be returned to each them at the
end of the day when their parent
checks them out.
There is a one time passport
fee of $10 per child. This
passport will never expire, it just
needs to be updated with your child's
current photo each year.
